About Us

The Climate Schools Programme is a pilot programme aimed at helping students explore solutions to tackling climate change and discover skills they didn’t know they had.

Consisting of lesson plans, resources and activities aimed at 11 to 14 year-olds in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, this new pilot programme offers science, geography and English lessons that not only align with each nation’s curriculum but also inspire the next generation to explore green engineering careers and tackle climate change head-on.

There are also Climate Action theme packs available that support existing extra-curricular clubs or new Climate Action Clubs, and encourage schools to develop Climate Action Plans, biodiversity projects, and community initiatives.

Powered by EngineeringUK

The Climate Schools Programme is run by EngineeringUK, a not-for-profit organisation working with hundreds of organisations to drive change so more young people choose engineering and technology careers.

We want the UK to have the diverse workforce needed for engineering and technology to thrive. We drive a collective effort to increase the engineering and technology talent pool through our research and evidence, leadership, activities for schools and advocacy, with a focus on long-term sustainability.

EngineeringUK enables more young people from all backgrounds to be inspired, informed and progress into engineering and technology through a variety of school engagement programmes including:

  • The Big Bang - get hands-on at The Big Bang Fair, recognise amazing STEM projects with The Big Bang Competition and bring STEM to you with Big Bang at School

  • Energy Quest - encourage young people to find out all about sustainable energy and learn about associated engineering careers through our curriculum linked workshops

  • Neon supports teachers and careers professionals to inspire their students with careers across the engineering sector, using inspiring case studies from real engineers and informative careers resources to help bring STEM curriculum to life.
